Zopitan 7.5 mg Film-Coated Tablets are part of a group of drugs known as hypnotics and sedatives. In adults zopitan tablets are prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia.

What is Zopitan used for?

Zopiclone is a type of sleeping pill that can be taken for short-term treatment of severe insomnia. It helps you fall asleep more quickly, and also helps stop you waking up during the night. It works by affecting a calming chemical in your brain called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Each Zopitan 7.5 mg film-coated tablet contains 7.5 mg of zopiclone.
The other ingredients are: Lactose monohydrate, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, maize starch, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (E171), hypromellose. The 3.75 mg tablets, only, also contain iron oxide yellow (E172), iron oxide red (E172) and also macrogol. How to take Zopitan

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Dosage Adults The recommended dose is 7.5 mg, 30 to 60 minutes before you go to bed. Elderly The recommended dose is 3.75 mg a day at first, and then gradually increased to 7.5 mg. People with liver and kidney problems The dose will be kept as low as possible. If you have mild kidney or liver problems you should not take more than 7.5 mg of Zopitan a day. If the problems are more serious, you should not take more than 3.75 mg of Zopitan a day
